Congressman Greg Landsman, currently serving Ohio’s 1st district, shared a series of tweets on May 20, 2025, discussing proposed changes to the tax code. The tweets outline his views on how these changes would impact various economic sectors and individuals.

In a tweet posted at 01:02:15 UTC, Congressman Landsman stated that the proposed tax code modifications are “basic and very popular changes” targeting the wealthiest Americans and large corporations. He emphasized that if these entities pay their taxes in full, it would result in tax relief for others who need it, asserting that “it will be fully paid for.” “These are basic and very popular changes to the tax code that will only impact the wealthiest Americans and big corporations. If they pay all their taxes, there will be tax relief for everyone else that needs it. It will be fully paid for.”

In another tweet sent at 01:02:16 UTC, Landsman addressed concerns regarding public employee pensions. He noted that under the current plan, there is no necessity to alter pension arrangements for public employees. He highlighted public sentiment by stating that “most Americans don’t think cutting pensions to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy makes sense.” “Fourth, under this plan, there is no need to mess with pensions for public employees. That provision can be removed. Most Americans don’t think cutting pensions to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy makes sense.”

Additionally, Congressman Landsman mentioned in another tweet also posted at 01:02:16 UTC that revenue generated from these straightforward tax adjustments could contribute to reducing the national deficit. “Third, with the revenue from the simple tax changes they can actually reduce the deficit.”

Greg Landsman has been representing Ohio’s 1st District since replacing Steve Chabot in 2023. Born in Cincinnati in 1976 and an alumnus of Ohio University with a BA earned in 1999, he continues to reside in Cincinnati.
