City of Loveland issued the following announcement on Feb. 21.
The Loveland Police Department recognized its School Resource Officers on Feb. 15 as part of “National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day.”
SROs are law enforcement officers with sworn law enforcement authority; trained in school-based policing and crisis response; and assigned by a law enforcement agency to work
with schools using community oriented policing concepts.
Officer Jesse Moore works at Loveland High School, Officer Mike Boettger works at Loveland Intermediate School, and Officer Jacob Steinkoenig works at Saint Columban. SROs
greet students arriving and leaving school, assist the safety teams, coordinate educational programs, advise for special events, work with the behavioral teams, and much more!
Each school is a unique community and has individual needs, so our officers adapt to the needs of their school.
Loveland SROs are also trained in crime prevention techniques and are certified through the Ohio Attorney General’s Office to conduct Ohio School Threat Assessments. Each
year, every school must conduct a threat assessment by a certified officer. The SROs assist our schools with their threat assessments, review emergency operations plans, and
assist with critical incident drills.
But we don’t stop there! Loveland officers will conduct threat assessments for your business, place of worship, or other location to help prevent and reduce crime in our community.
