HAMILTON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS CONTINUE TO INVEST IN EMPLOYEES TO ATTRACT AND RETAIN TALENT

Hamilton County Commissioners approved a tuition benefit program for full-time employees’ continued education to attract and retain top talent. Hamilton County is launching the tuition reimbursement program that pays up to $5,250 a year towards an associate, bachelor’s, or master’s degrees.

The tuition reimbursement program extends countywide to all 4,300 employees including all elected offices, courts, and departments - right in time for the Summer and Fall semesters.

"We are investing in our employees’ futures as well as investing in the future of Hamilton County," said Commission President Stephanie Summerow Dumas. "We believe, ultimately, the public will be better served with a stronger workforce."

"To offer tuition reimbursement at a time when people can’t get out from under student loan debt, is a big step," said Commission Vice President Alicia Reece.  "In addition to helping our employees reach their educational goals without the crippling debt, we’ve coupled with UC to offer more relief."

In addition to the tuition reimbursement, Hamilton County has also joined with the University of Cincinnati for a 10% discount for online programs for employees interested in improving skills for their current jobs or promotions.

"Tuition reimbursement is a part of a broader benefits package including recently expanded paid parental leave, additional holidays, and a generous health and retirement offering – so we can continue to attract and retain the best public servants," said Commissioner Denise Driehaus.

"This recommendation came from the Employee Advisory Committee- an employee-run board that makes recommendations on ways to improve the employee experience," said County Administrator Jeff Aluotto. "This brings us closer to our goal of being an employer of choice in the region."

Hamilton County is currently recruiting for over 100 positions countywide. For a complete listing of job opportunities and benefits, visit https://www.hamiltoncountyohio.gov/careers/
