U.S. Congressman Greg Landsman, representing Ohio’s 1st district since 2023, addressed the ongoing federal budget negotiations in a series of posts on September 19, 2025. Landsman called for bipartisan cooperation and emphasized the importance of protecting Affordable Care Act subsidies.
In his first post, Landsman stated, "2. This budget has to be bipartisan – it’s the only way it can get passed. The problem is, Trump told Republicans not to work with Democrats." (September 19, 2025). He followed by outlining a potential solution: "To get this done, the majority will have to sit down with Democratic leaders and work out a budget." (September 19, 2025).
Landsman also highlighted healthcare as a central issue in the negotiations: "3. The path forward is really simple — we just want to protect health care. And when we say health care, we're talking about the Affordable Care Act subsidies that make it affordable." (September 19, 2025).
Landsman's comments come amid broader debates over federal spending and party divisions in Congress. He succeeded Steve Chabot in Ohio's 1st congressional district after winning election in 2022 and began serving in January 2023. Born in Cincinnati in 1976 and an alumnus of Ohio University (class of '99), Landsman continues to reside in Cincinnati while serving his constituents.
