Thomas More University recently issued the following announcement.
Thomas More University Director of Athletics and Head Football coach Chris Norwell announced Bryan Moore as the new offensive coordinator for the football program.
Bryan Moore returns for his second stint with the Saints. Moore began his coaching career with the Saints and was on staff from 2000-2005.
Moore will be the Offensive Coordinator for TMU and coach the quarterbacks in 2022. Moore comes to the Saints after serving as the Head Football Coach at Wilmington College the past 5 seasons.
"I have always been connected with the Thomas More Football program," said Moore. "My coaching career began here back in 2000 when Thomas More was a NCAA D3 program. It is a unique opportunity to return to the staff as they transition from NAIA to NCAA D2."
"This program is deep rooted with a history of great head coaches, winning championships, playoff appearances, and their storied Dog Soldier program," Moore stated. "I am honored to return to campus and assist this staff as we begin the Coach Norwell era of Thomas More Football."
At Wilmington, Moore took over a team with a 3-77 record the 8 years prior to his arrival. During his tenure as a head coach, Wilmington was able to put an end to several dubious losing streaks, including stopping a 40 game OAC losing streak in his first season and defeating conference rival Ohio Northern for the first time since 1956.
Prior to Wilmington, Coach Moore was the offensive coordinator at Bluffton University. At Bluffton, he worked under another former TMU assistant coach, Denny Dorrel. Moore's offense broke the all-time Bluffton records for yards per game, points per game, and passing yards per game.
"Bryan brings a great wealth of knowledge to our program," said head coach Chris Norwell. "His ability to relate and develop players both on and off the field make him a great match for Thomas More."
Before Bluffton, Moore reunited with former Saints Head Coach, Mike Hallett, to help rebuild a Heidelberg University football program. During his time at Heidelberg, Moore served as the wide receiver coach and special teams coordinator. Two of his wide receivers (Donteea Dye and Mike Preston) went on to have careers in the NFL. The Heidelberg football program also reached as high as #9 in the national rankings and hosted a playoff game
Moore spent two seasons as the Offensive Coordinator at Emory and Henry College (VA) after is first stint at Thomas More. While on staff with the Saints from 2000-2005, Moore was the Wide Receiver coach and Special Teams Coordinator. In 2001, led by Head Coach Dean Paul, the Saints completed a perfect 10-0 regular season, hosted two playoff games and advanced to the round of 16 in the NCAA D3 tournament.
Moore is a graduate of Hiram College and Brookfield High School. A Northeast Ohio native, Moore lives with his wife Sheila and children; River (22), Skye (20), Landen (18), twins Legend and Legacy (10), and Honor (8).
Moore will look to help spark the Saints offense in the fall of 2022 with a schedule to be announced later this Spring.
