Congressman Greg Landsman, who represents Ohio’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, addressed concerns about social media and its impact on youth in a series of posts on September 11, 2025.

In one post, Landsman stated, "5. We have the capacity to fix this. Fixing this does mean that we take an 'all of the above' approach…" (September 11, 2025). He emphasized empathy as central to addressing these challenges, writing, "At the heart of that is empathy. Showing empathy, just feeling somebody else's pain, and just leading from there." (September 11, 2025).

Reflecting on personal experience as a parent, Landsman described how his daughter was exposed to unwanted content online: "That includes my 15-year-old daughter who saw it. She didn't want to see it, but the algorithm put it in front of her. As a parent, should I rethink whether or not my kid should be looking at social media in general? Yes. But if you're a social media company, you need to rethink" (September 11, 2025).

Landsman has represented Ohio’s 1st District since replacing Steve Chabot in 2023. Born in Cincinnati in 1976 and currently residing there with his family, he graduated from Ohio University with a BA in 1999.
