Congressman Greg Landsman, who has been serving Ohio's 1st district since 2023, shared his insights on recent legislative developments via social media. In a series of tweets dated May 13, 2025, Landsman discussed proposed changes to healthcare funding and their implications.
In his initial post, "We reviewed the bill." (May 13, 2025), Congressman Landsman outlined the bill's details regarding healthcare cuts intended to finance tax reductions for wealthy individuals. He indicated that there are seven specific ways in which healthcare services are being reduced.
In a subsequent tweet posted at the same time, "4) Shifts healthcare costs to states.", he highlighted how the bill proposes shifting healthcare expenses to state governments while simultaneously prohibiting states from utilizing provider taxes to mitigate coverage gaps. According to Landsman, this would lead to a situation where states are unable to cover these gaps, resulting in loss of healthcare for many citizens.
Another point made by Congressman Landsman was about subsidy cuts. In his tweet "3) Cuts subsidies that millions rely on for affordable healthcare", he noted that these cuts effectively dismantle aspects of the Affordable Care Act under a different guise.
Greg Landsman's background includes being born in Cincinnati in 1976 and graduating from Ohio University with a BA in 1999. He currently resides in Cincinnati.
