The City of Harrison Public Works Department has completed the installation of a water softener. Residents should bypass or adjust their home softeners as soon as possible.
As of Oct. 12, 2022, the City Water Plant is dispensing water at a hardness of 240 mg/L of CaCo3. The softening will continue to phase in over the next month before it reaches a final hardness of 140 mg/L of CaCo3.
The reverse osmosis system will process 1.5 million gallons per day, reducing hardness of tap water and corrosion of pipelines. The City has prepared an FAQ document to help answer questions about integration with home water softeners.
The City's water plant provides safe drinking water for 13,000 residents and local businesses.
