Congressman Greg Landsman, representing Ohio's 1st district, expressed concerns regarding the challenges and misinformation facing seniors, particularly in relation to Social Security. Landsman, who has served in Congress since 2023, took to social media to communicate his views and advocate for the welfare of seniors.

On April 15, 2025, Landsman addressed the issue of increased wait times affecting seniors' access to benefits. He asserted, "For seniors needing assistance, that means longer wait times and, ultimately, not getting access to the benefits they earned." This highlights ongoing challenges that elderly citizens face in obtaining their deserved support.

In a subsequent post on the same day, Landsman criticized policymakers for allegedly ignoring the hardships faced by seniors, stating, "Everything they’re doing is making it harder for our seniors. And they don’t care. They absolutely don’t care. Because all of this is so unpopular, they haven’t moved as fast. The more you speak out, the better." This message underscores his belief that public advocacy plays a significant role in influencing policy changes.

Landsman further addressed the issue of misinformation surrounding Social Security on the same day, stressing the potential ramifications of such narratives. He stated, "They believe that misinformation and lies about Social Security will create an environment where they can make these cuts. That brings us back to why J.D. Vance’s comment is so terrifying. 40 million seniors rely on Social Security for half of their income. Any changes to this" This reveals his concern about how false information could facilitate detrimental policy shifts that could affect millions of seniors who depend significantly on Social Security benefits.

Greg Landsman is currently serving in the U.S. Congress, representing Ohio's 1st district. He replaced previous U.S. Congress member Steve Chabot in 2023. Landsman, 46, was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1976 and currently lives there. He graduated from Ohio University in 1999 with a BA.
