Congressman Greg Landsman, who has been serving Ohio's 1st district since 2023, shared his views on tax reforms and fiscal policy through a series of tweets on May 23, 2025. The congressman proposed changes aimed at increasing revenue by adjusting tax rates for the wealthiest individuals and corporations.

In one tweet, Landsman suggested resetting the top tax rate from 37% to 39.6%, which he estimates would generate over $250 billion. He also advocated for the creation of a "minimum billionaire tax," dubbed the “Elon Tax,” projected to raise more than $500 billion. Additionally, he called for closing loopholes that benefit the ultra-wealthy.

Addressing corporate taxes, Landsman noted that in 2017, the corporate tax rate was reduced from 35% to 21% under former President Trump and Republican leadership, which he claims contributed to an increased deficit. He proposed raising this rate to 28%, which he believes could result in $1.3 trillion in new revenue without reverting fully to previous levels.

In another post, Landsman discussed a hypothetical bill designed to protect health care and food assistance while balancing the budget. He asserted that such legislation would garner substantial support in the House with approximately 350 votes and effectively assist people.

Greg Landsman's political career began after succeeding Steve Chabot as U.S. Congress member for Ohio’s 1st District in 2023. Born in Cincinnati in 1976, Landsman is an alumnus of Ohio University where he graduated with a BA in 1999.
