Congressman Greg Landsman, who represents Ohio’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, criticized recent budget cuts approved by Congressional Republicans in a series of tweets posted on July 18, 2025.

In one post, Landsman highlighted the impact of the funding reductions: "This funding mostly impacts the most vulnerable children. They cut $1 billion in public broadcasting — funds that support over 1,500 public TV and radio stations. Now they’re at risk to close." He emphasized that these cuts threaten the operation of numerous public television and radio stations across the country.

Landsman also commented on the broader scope of the budget decision: "Congressional Republicans voted to take back $9 billion they already approved. What they cut and who it hurts. https://t.co/EPgLZRpvhq" He did not elaborate further within this tweet but pointed readers to additional information via an external link.

In a separate message, Landsman described his view of the legislation itself: "This may be one of the cruelest bills Congress has ever taken up. "

Landsman's remarks come as part of ongoing debates in Congress over federal spending priorities and public broadcasting support. According to congressional records, Greg Landsman began serving as a representative for Ohio’s 1st District in 2023 after replacing Steve Chabot. Born in Cincinnati in 1976, he is currently 46 years old and continues to reside in his hometown. Landsman graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1999.

Public broadcasting services are widely used throughout the United States, providing educational content and news coverage for communities nationwide.
