U.S. Congressman Greg Landsman, representing Ohio’s 1st district since 2023, used his Twitter account on July 23, 2025 to voice concerns over recent legislative developments related to immigration policy.

In a series of posts, Landsman criticized a new bill passed by Congress. In one tweet he stated, "It's going to get worse. In this one awful, ugly bill, they passed $45B just for building these detention centers." (July 23, 2025). He followed with another post expressing apprehension about the potential consequences: "You're going to see an avalanche of roundups and people just disappearing. That's not immigration reform." (July 23, 2025). Additionally, Landsman commented on what he believes should occur instead: "What should happen. " (July 23, 2025).

Landsman's remarks come amid ongoing debates in Congress regarding funding and management of detention centers for immigrants. The referenced legislation allocates $45 billion specifically for the construction of such facilities.

Born in Cincinnati in 1976 and currently residing there, Greg Landsman has been active in local and national politics for several years. He graduated from Ohio University in 1999 with a BA degree and succeeded Steve Chabot as the representative for Ohio's 1st congressional district in January 2023.
