Congressman Greg Landsman, who represents Ohio’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, has posted a series of statements on social media regarding ongoing budget negotiations and potential impacts on healthcare costs for millions of Americans.
On September 25, 2025, Landsman wrote, "22 million Americans will be paying hundreds more for their healthcare every month if ACA tax credits aren’t extended. Congress should do everything it can to pass a bipartisan budget that renews the tax credits and avoids a government shutdown."
Later that day, he addressed the role of former President Trump in the budget process, stating on September 26, 2025: "As President, Trump has the ability, and the responsibility, to bring Republicans and Democrats together to pass a budget." In another post at the same time, Landsman added: "Trump’s shutdown is totally avoidable. https://t.co/UVbMWPzWy3"
Landsman's comments come as lawmakers debate whether to extend Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits and work toward passing a new federal budget to prevent a government shutdown. The potential expiration of these tax credits could lead to increased monthly healthcare costs for an estimated 22 million Americans.
Landsman began representing Ohio’s 1st district in Congress after succeeding Steve Chabot in 2023. Born in Cincinnati in 1976 and currently residing there, Landsman graduated from Ohio University with a BA in 1999.
