City of Loveland recently issued the following announcement.
The City of Loveland has proclaimed Sunday, Jan. 30 as “Black and Orange Who-Dey” in honor of the Cincinnati Bengals when the team competes in the AFC Championship Game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
At the Jan. 25 Loveland City Council meeting, Mayor Kathy Bailey issued an honorary proclamation encouraging all city residents and businesses to wear the team colors on Jan. 30.
“I urge all citizens to cheer the Cincinnati Bengals to victory in the 2022 AFC Championship Game this Sunday afternoon by dressing in black and orange,” said Mayor Bailey.
Loveland City Schools — whose mascot is a tiger — helped Mayor Bailey and City Council show support for the Bengals. School leadership, the school's tiger mascot, members of the high school football team, members of the high school cheerleading team, and members of the athletic boosters attended the City Council meeting.
In addition, leading up to the Championship Game, Loveland City Schools made Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase honorary Loveland Tigers. Burrow and Chase were LSU Tigers in college, then Cincinnati Bengal Tigers. Now they are "officially" honorary Loveland Tigers. The Loveland Athletic Boosters also made Bengals' kicker Evan McPherson an honorary member.
In celebration of Black and Orange Day, the city will temporarily change its logo to a black and orange design. Who Dey!
