Join us for this workshop led by a local artist. Learn about techniques and materials used by professional artists in these fun, educational and hands-on workshops. Children must be at least 6 years old to participate. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an enrolled adult.
Natural Dyeing
Learn about the beauty and non-toxic magic of natural pigments. Create tie dyed tea towels with vibrant colors using only flowers, leaves, and roots. Learn about the history and process of dyeing with madder root and indigo leaves, followed by a demonstration of various tie dye techniques using prepared dyes. Then try your hand at dyeing your own tea towels. Please note, there will be some simple steps to complete your creations at home.
About the Artist
Devan Horton is an artist and activist from Northern Kentucky who creates work calling attention to climate change and the effect humans have on our environments. These themes are now influencing her art making process and materials as she experiments with sustainable mediums.
