On September 12, City Manager Sheryl Long named Frank McKinley incoming fire chief for the Cincinnati Fire Department.
“This community and department are ready for a fresh start and a new voice of leadership at the helm. I am thrilled to welcome Frank McKinley as incoming Chief of the Cincinnati Fire Department,” said City Manager Sheryl Long.
Mr. McKinley comes to Cincinnati after nearly 30 years of serving the citizens of Dallas, Texas. He has served as Assistant Chief of Training, Communications and Administration and brings fresh perspective from a large, metropolitan fire department.
“This department is steeped in a rich heritage and tradition that I am excited to build upon. I am eager to start my listening and learning tour and take in all innovative ideas and feedback to develop a symbiotic plan of action that not only improves operations but improves the lives of our team members and residents,” said Frank McKinley.
“During his long and decorated career, he has exhibited the experience and the guiding hand that we need – and I’m confident that City Manager Long has found the best leader possible to guide our fire department forward,” said Mayor Aftab.
Details regarding the swearing-in ceremony are being finalized. Interim Chief Steve Breitfelder will continue to serve in his role until early October.
