Congressman Greg Landsman, representing Ohio’s 1st district since 2023, recently shared a series of tweets via Twitter, addressing several pressing policy issues. His tweets convey concerns about proposed fiscal measures, school safety, and maternal health disparities, highlighting his active engagement in national discourse. Landsman, born in Cincinnati in 1976, holds a BA from Ohio University and lives in the same city.
In a tweet from April 17, 2025, Landsman criticized upcoming plans by Congressional Republicans to finance tax cuts for the wealthiest by slashing nearly a trillion dollars from healthcare funding. "In order to pay for tax cuts for the super wealthy, Congressional Republicans are planning to cut nearly a trillion in healthcare. This is wrong. What it means", he wrote.
Also on April 17, Landsman expressed his concerns about gun violence impacting children's safety in schools. He characterized the situation as an epidemic, stating "Kids should be able to go to school without fear of gun violence. This is an epidemic, and our children are begging us to do more. We have to do more." The congressman emphasized the urgency of addressing this critical issue.
In another post the same day, Landsman touched on maternal health disparities, brought to light by a personal story. He referenced a portrait of Arnise Thrasher outside his office in Washington, D.C., a Cleveland mother who died following childbirth. Reflecting on the broader implications, Landsman stated, "Outside our office in DC is a portrait of Arnise Thrasher, a mom from Cleveland who died after giving birth. Her story is tragic — and far too common. Black women are three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes. That’s the reality, and it has to change."
