Congressman Greg Landsman, who represents Ohio’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on July 18, 2025, criticizing recent budget cuts to global aid programs and expressing concern about their potential consequences.

In one tweet, Landsman questioned the motivation behind the cuts: "Why would they do this? To make room for more tax cuts for the super-wealthy. The richest people in the world will benefit at the expense of the most vulnerable children in the world." He continued his criticism by highlighting what he believes are severe repercussions: "It’s not hyperbolic to say that children will die."

Landsman detailed specific reductions in funding: "They cut: 1. ~$500M from programs that vaccinate children across the world 2. $300M from family planning that puts 50M people at risk and could cause over 35,000 maternal deaths. 3. $4.15B from programs that help 40 million children stay in school and get clean water".

Greg Landsman has served as a member of Congress since 2023 after replacing Steve Chabot as representative for Ohio's 1st district. Born in Cincinnati in 1976, Landsman is a lifelong resident of Cincinnati and graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1999.
