Congressman Greg Landsman, who represents Ohio’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, called for stronger action from Qatar regarding the ongoing conflict involving Hamas and Israel, according to a series of posts on July 29, 2025.
In one post, Landsman stated, "Qatar should take into custody every Hamas leader in Qatar until every hostage is released and the war is over. AND they should join Israel and others in delivering aid — to the Palestinian people." (July 29, 2025).
He also announced that he had communicated directly with Qatari officials: "I sent a letter to Qatari officials this week, informing them we will not send staff on their upcoming trip. They need to put maximum pressure on Hamas to release the hostages so this awful war can end." (July 29, 2025).
Addressing broader efforts needed in the region, Landsman wrote: "We should all be pushing to surge aid, get the hostages home, end the war, and support a coalition of nations working with Israel and the Palestinians to rebuild Gaza." (July 29, 2025).
Landsman has served as U.S. Representative for Ohio’s 1st District since replacing Steve Chabot in 2023. Born in Cincinnati in 1976 and an alumnus of Ohio University with a BA earned in 1999, he continues to reside in his hometown.
