Congressman Greg Landsman, who represents Ohio’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, announced via social media that two Planned Parenthood centers are closing in Southwest Ohio due to recent federal budget cuts. Landsman attributed these closures to a significant reduction in healthcare funding under the Trump administration.
On August 6, 2025, Landsman posted, "Two Planned Parenthood centers are closing in SW Ohio after Trump’s budget cut nearly $1T from healthcare to fund tax breaks for the super-wealthy. Women will lose access to care immediately. We spoke at the Mt. Auburn clinic, that will take on additional patients from nearby https://t.co/QDHNEtRB6X". In a subsequent tweet posted on the same day, he tagged @PPSWO, referring to Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio.
Addressing policy measures aimed at counteracting these developments, Landsman also tweeted on August 6, 2025: "We’ve introduced the Protect Our Hospitals Act, which restores the provider tax cut from the budget and helps hospitals continue to care for patients."
Planned Parenthood clinics often serve as essential healthcare providers for women and families across various communities. The closure of such facilities can have immediate effects on local access to reproductive and general health services.
Greg Landsman has represented Ohio's 1st District since 2023 and resides in Cincinnati. He was born there in 1976 and graduated from Ohio University with a BA in 1999.
