City Releases First Annual Complete Streets Report

CINCINNATI - The City of Cincinnati has released its first annual “Complete Streets” report. The report outlines the number and type of Complete Street improvements constructed by the Department of Transportation & Engineering (DOTE) during 2023.

Complete Streets are planned, designed, operated, and maintained so that people of all ages and physical and economic abilities can safely and comfortably move around the city street network using all modes of travel. Complete Street features vary based on community context, but may include a wide range of elements such as bicycle facilities, sidewalks, traffic calming, safety improvements, streetscape treatments, and more.

In 2023, DOTE installed:

  • 4 miles of new bicycle facilities

  • 169,621 square feet of new/repaired/widened sidewalk

  • 169 curb ramps

  • 112 traffic calming improvements such as speed cushions, curb extensions, and reduced speed limits

  • 557 safety improvements such as stop signs, pedestrian signals, and new crosswalks

  • 515 comfort enhancements such as street lighting and wayfinding signage
