Congressman Greg Landsman, representing Ohio's 1st district, utilized social media to express his concerns over recent legislative actions affecting financial policies. In a series of tweets, Landsman criticized the removal of a cap on overdraft fees, suggesting it was driven by the desire to increase profits for top earners.

On April 10, 2025, Landsman tweeted about the elimination of the cap on overdraft fees, blaming it on similar motivations that led to the approval of the recent budget: "They got rid of the cap on overdraft fees for the same reason they passed their budget – so people at the top could make more money."

Continuing his critique on the same date, Landsman stated, "This is one of the cruelest things," referring to a recently passed bill that would result in increased overdraft fees. He condemned the measure as a deliberate attempt that impacts individuals during their financial hardships: "They passed a bill that would actually increase overdraft fees. Intentionally. So on your worst day, you overdraw your account to pay your bills and you’re hit with a high fee."

In another tweet on the same day, Landsman highlighted the shifting public opinion as a strategy to oppose these measures, advocating for bipartisan support to enact change: "Public opinion is shifting and it’s the only way to stop this. We just need a few Republicans to join us. Keep up the pressure. "

Landsman's remarks stem from his position as a U.S. Congressman for Ohio's 1st district, a position he has held since 2023 after succeeding Steve Chabot. Born in Cincinnati in 1976, he remains a resident there and completed his education at Ohio University in 1999.
